The McKeen Store

“The store was the focal point of our community. It met so many needs: post office, farm supplies, groceries, gifts and above all, a place to socialize.”

- Jessica Coburn Robinson

Travel back to a time of molasses and kerosene, penny candy and patent medicine, and tall tales from a bench by a wood-burning stove on cold winter evenings. The McKeen store operated on Keswick Ridge for over a hundred years, and housed the post office, as well as being a centre of commerce and socializing. Many of our restoration efforts have been based on local memories and recollections, and thanks to the community, we have been able to stock the shelves, and appoint the store with historic treasures and cherished artifacts. Here you can have a virtual look around the store, and view some of the immense amount of work that’s been done (so far) to bring it back to life.
